Sharman Joshi might have earned popularity for playing the backbencher in '3 Idiots', but in real life he was a decent student who did quite well in sports. The actor shared this and more about his school and college days while interacting with the students of Bennett University (BU) in Greater Noida on Wednesday. Sharman and Aishwarya Devan, who was the Femina Miss India Maharashtra 2017, visited BU campus for a fun interactive session with students and to promote their film 'Kaashi in Search of Ganga'. The actors also checked out the state-of-the-art campus.

‘It’s been a pleasure to be at BU campus’
For Sharman and Aishwarya, the visit to Bennett University brought back many memories. “I am from the Times family and coming to BU is like visiting family. I feel a special connection with this place. It is an amazing university and I was so glad to meet such smart students,” said Aishwarya. Sharman said that he loves interacting with students as they always have something interesting to share. “It’s been a pleasure to be at this beautiful campus. Visiting colleges and interacting with students is always a different experience. We have been visiting a few universities since the last few days and I love students’ enthusiasm, excitement and spirit. Students are always honest in sharing feedback and as I have been visiting colleges to promote Kaashi, I have been asking them what they think about the teaser of our film,” he said.
Talking about his college days, Sharman said that he was always an average student who did fairly well in sports. “I played volleyball and cricket in my school and college. Also, I did a lot of theatre and that is one thing I miss most from my college days. I learnt about acting the most by doing theatre in college,” said Sharman. Aishwarya added that she misses her school days the most. “I was a chilled out students and a beauty queen in school as well. I always wanted to dress up differently, even in school. I miss my friends from school, they all are in Bengaluru and I don’t get a chance to see them now,” she said.

We all should be responsible while talking about the #MeToo movement’
Though some students were eager to know about the preparation that the actors had done for their role in this movie, few also asked them about their opinion on the #MeToo movement. “This campaign is serious and it is great that the #MeToo movement has found momentum. These ladies found strength to tell their stories and many other women are coming forward to share their stories. For me, the logical conclusion to all this would be that a system comes into place. The administration should set up some panel or fast-track courts where these cases can be dealt with. I request everyone to be responsible when we talk about this movement,” said Sharman.

“How does an induction motor work?”: Sharman asks BTech students at BU
Along with all the questions that were asked to the actors, one question that made everyone laugh was when a student asked Sharman if there is any piece of advice that he would like to give to the students of BTech, courtesy his role in '3 Idiots'. “How does an induction motor work? I suggest you look up to Page no 23, the third paragraph in your textbook of Mechanical Engineering or whatever that is. You will find the answer there. Main toh BCom student hoon, main BTech walon ka kya bataunga? Aur padhao technology taki main BCom karke usse dhandha karke paisa kamayun,” he said.
