MUZAFFARPUR: Police on Monday night arrested a CPI (Maoist) activist with detonators and other explosives from Jainul Dumri village under Paru police station of the district.

The Maoist was arrested after villagers informed the police finding something suspicious. SSP Manoj Kumar said, “The villagers had informed him about some persons digging land. They also caught one of them whose activities were suspicious. When police reached the spot, they recovered 15 detonators and 10 sticks of power gel used to prepare high intensity explosives and land mines.”

The arrested man has been identified as Manoj Singh, a resident of Teja Dumri under the same police station. “Manoj has a tainted past. He was involved in more than half-a-dozen Maoist-related incidents. He has even confessed his involvement in the murder of former mukhiya of Chaki Sohagpur. He also confessed that he was preparing explosives to explode the under construction house of present mukhiya Mamta Devi at Kubauli village. We have lodged an FIR against five persons including three named. Raids are on to nab the rest of them,” said the SSP.

The Maoist added that the recovered explosive items were of high quality. “The explosive might have been brought from Gomia factory as one of the relatives of the arrested Maoist is working there. His relative must have managed to smuggle the items from the factory,” said the SSP.
