The Noida Authority has given its approval to hand over the traffic park in Sector 108 to the Transport Department. The facility, built at a cost of ₹36 crore, has a track that will help the transport authorities to finally conduct driving tests for applicants of licences.
Department officials conducted a meeting at the site on Monday and the Regional Transport Officer visited the spot to see whether the facility was ready to be handed over.
The park also has a building to house the offices of the Noida Transport Department, which is currently operating out of a rented building in Sector 32.
Conceptualised in 2007, the construction of the park began in 2015 and was supposed to be completed the same year.
Lease of 99 years
“The Noida Authority had been requested to transfer the traffic park to the Transport Department on lease of 99 years. The Authority had to sign an MoU, which states that the traffic park will be transferred to the department for free and the latter will have to pay only maintenance charges,” said a department official.
A senior official of the Noida Authority said that the office has agreed to hand over the traffic park to the department. The park also has an auditorium, a cafeteria and life-size models of a roundabout, flyover, bridge, bus stop, subway, and traffic signals.
