The Gautam Buddh Nagar police Monday said they have arrested the key person who was running an illegal liquor factory in Ghaziabad that was busted in the last week of September.

Bobby Tomar alias Langda was absconding since September 26, when a police team from Noida Sector 24 had raided the Ghaziabad’s Tronica City-based factory.

Around 15,000 litres of illicit liquor worth an estimated ₹50 lakh was seized from the factory in a record haul in recent times by the city police. Four persons were also arrested, said officers.

The factory, which was running under the garb of a “juice manufacturing” unit, was being managed by 38-year-old Tomar.

“Since the raid, the police were tracking Tomar’s movement. On a tip-off from informers, we got to know that he would be coming to City Centre. Police teams were mobilised and Tomar was arrested on Monday morning,” Sector 24 Station House Officer Pankaj Pant said.

Tomar was running the factory for gangster Amit alias Bhoora, who is presently lodged in Patiala jail, said the police.

He was also involved in managing other illegal businesses of Bhoora, the police said, adding his role in other nefarious activities was being ascertained.

Tomar, a resident of Baghpat district, has been booked under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 272 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale), 273 (sale of noxious food or drink) and related offences, the police said.

He has been remanded in judicial custody.
