Man murders estranged wife in TN

MADURAI: A man murdered his estranged wife at Alagiripatti in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu on Monday night.
Police said K Prabhu, 32, intercepted his wife G Renuka while she was walking with her sister’s daughter on the Melur -Sekkipatti road.

Prabhu picked up a quarrel with her and started attacking her with a sharp weapon. She suffered injuries on her neck, shoulder and thigh and lost a lot of blood. After attacking her, he fled the scene.


Passersby took Renuka to Melur Government Hospital, where she died.


Based on a complaint filed by Renuka’s sister, the Keezhavalavu police registered a case and arrested Prabhu.


The police said the two had got married three years ago and parted ways within six months. Renuka went to live in her parents’ house in the same village. Prabhu had tried to pacify her and bring her back to his home. But she was not ready.
