Four men were arrested on Sunday night in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in east Delhi’s Kalyan Puri on October 13, the police said on Monday.

They said that the minor girl was gang-raped by two of the accused in presence of the other two.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Singh confirmed the arrests, saying that the accused include the 26-year-old son of the victim’s landlord. Mr. Singh said of the four accused, two have been arrested on charges of gang rape and two on charges of abetting the crime.

A senior police officer said that the victim, a resident of Vinod Nagar, was on her way to school on October 13 morning, when her landlord’s son stopped her and asked her to come along with him. The victim agreed to do so as she knew the accused.

“The accused took her to a park where the other three accused were already present. The victim stated that the four forcibly took her to a flat where two of them took turns to rape her in the presence of the other two,” the officer said.

Parents approached cops

The accused also allegedly threatened her and asked her not to tell anyone about the incident. The victim was then dropped outside the flat. She went home and narrated her ordeal to her parents, who later approached the police to report the incident.

The officer said that the victim’s medical examination was conducted at a government hospital. Based on the complaint of the victim, a case under Section 376D of the Indian Penal Code and relevant Sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered.
