Vadodara: The joint measurement survey (JMS) process for land acquisition for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project - the Ahmedabad-Vadodara bullet train – has been completed with lightning speed in major parts of Vadodara district.
Sources in the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the implementing agency for the high-speed rail corridor, said that the survey, which is an important stage for land acquisition process, has been completed in 32 out of 35 villages where land needs to be acquired.

“There is 58 km stretch that falls in Vadodara district of which the survey has got over for 52 km. The survey in Vadodara district has got over in 23 days which is fastest when compared to other districts in Gujarat like Anand and Kheda where it took more than a month,” said Pradeep Ahirkar, chief project manager of NHSRCL.

For the land acquisition process, the officials had divided the district into three parts – Vadodara rural, Vadodara city and Karjan.

“NHSRCL provided the support staff to all the three land acquisition officers helped speed up the process,” he said.

The survey is now pending for Nagarwada, Vadodara kasba and Mangrol village where talks are on with villagers.

After the initial survey, since many residential societies and commercial buildings were coming in the alignment of bullet train, NHSRCL had revised their proposal for Nagarwada and Vadodara kasba – the urban pockets of the district. “The proposal has been re-submitted so that dismantling can be minimized,” he said.

After the survey in which land owners also participated to finalize the patch of land that is to be given to NHSRCL, section 19 notification will be issued after which valuation of the land will be ascertained before conferring the final award.
