NEW DELHI: Listing threats posed by “lone wolf” attackers and “do it yourself” terrorists as a major challenge for security agencies, Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday asked the latter to accordingly revise their counter-strategies and tactics.

Singh made this observation while recalling recent attacks in New York and London where allegedly self-radicalised terrorists used vehicles to mow down a number of people. Addressing commandos of the elite counter-terror force National Security Guard (NSG) on their 34th raising day in Manesar near Gurgaon, Singh said security forces credited the excellent coordination exhibited by the forces for ensuring that there was no major terror attack in the hinterland since the 2008 Mumbai strike.

“The ‘do it yourself’ and ‘lone wolf’ kind of terror attacks are a major challenge for us. We will have to prepare accordingly and keep changing and updating our tactics to counter these threats,” he told the NSG garrison.
