Surat: Postmortem conducted on the body of three-year-old girl found murdered after rape on Monday has revealed that she had been subjected to unnatural sex as well by the culprit. Doctors found injuries on the child’s private parts during forensic postmortem conducted on her body at Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) here on Tuesday. Samples of the child’s body have been preserved for further forensic examination, sources said.
Meanwhile, child’s family members, neighbours and relatives gathered outside the postmortem room on SMIMER premises. The family refused to accept the body until the accused, a 25-year-old man, who is on the run, was arrested. They accepted the body only after police assured them that strict action would be taken against the accused and he would be arrested soon.
The suspect was with police on Monday when they were searching for the minor, who was reported missing since previous night. The accused later disappeared after locking his rented accommodation on ground floor on the same building where the girl’s family lived. His room was checked later by police and the child’s body was found packed in a plastic sack.
“Several police teams have been formed to trace the accused, who is on the run. We are in touch with police of other districts as well. Postmortem examination has revealed that the minor had suffered injuries on her private parts. Besides, rape and sexual assault under Indian Penal Code, the accused would also be booked under the provisions of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO),” city police commissioner Satish Sharma told TOI.
