Restart 6am bus service, urges group of women
tnn | Oct 16, 2018, 18:13 ISTCoimbatore: A group of six working women on Monday submitted a petition in the district collectorate demanding the continuation of the early morning service of a bus (number 114) plying between Irugur and KNG Pudur. According to the petitioners, the service was suspended for the past two weeks.
A teacher from Uppilipalayam, who works at Velliangadu Government School near the Pillur dam, said she usually boards the 6.35am bus near her home to the new bus stand on Mettupalayam Road. “From there I take another bus to Velliangadu. However, for the past two weeks, I took a bus to Gandhipuram bus stand, from there another bus to Mettupalayam Road and a third bus to Velliangadu,” she said.
The bus used to leave from Irugur around 6.15am and reach KNG Pudur via Singanallur, Vardarajapuram, Uppilipalayam, Sowripalayam, Gandhipuram, Sivanandha Colony, New bus stand and Goundanpudur.
“I regularly take the bus from K N G Pudur to Gandhipuram bus stand, from where I take another bus to work,” said another petitioner Saraswathi.
“Now I have to change two buses or take the number 114 air bus which costs 2.5 times more than the ordinary fare, as the bus pass is not accepted in it,” she said.
