MIDNAPORE: Even as a cyclone wreaked havoc on Odisha and West Midnapore, 31-year-old Ishita Das from Toofanganj in Cooch Behar gave birth to a baby girl at a nursing home in Midnapore on October 12. She was named Titli by her grandfather.
Ishita, a schoolteacher at Midnapore, and her husband, Pradpitamay Saha, a field officer with Indian Oil Corporation, got married in 2011.
In Midnapore, they sought medical support to help Ishita conceive. “Her delivery date was September 30 but it had to be postponed due to her physical complications. It coincided with Titli and we were worried as it had already started raining heavily. But everything passed off smoothly and my father-in-law has named my daughter after the cyclone,” said Pradiptamay.
