PATIALA: The Punjab police in Ropar and Patiala claimed to have no information about any arms cache hidden in Ropar district by pro-Khalistani outfit leader Jerman as claimed by UP Police.
Ropar SSP Swapan Sharma said he was unaware of any details about arms and ammunition being clandestinely stored in any village. He added he had spoken to Shamli SP Dinesh Kumar P, who confirmed that the three men with links to a Khalistan outfit had been arrested, but the SP did not share inputs about arms cache hidden in a Ropar village.
Ropar IG B Nirja did not have any details about the UP police operation. "There is no such information with me about the arrest of any persons in UP who were making plans to kill the Badals, but let me check about the inputs if related with Ropar." In March this year, the Ropar police had recovered weapons and ammunition from the Bhakhra Canal during a search operation to trace stolen bikes. No one was booked for the arms recovered from canal. The police at the time had claimed that the weapons were dumped in the recent past, but the ammunition could still be used. Ropar SSP did not confirm if there was a link between the UP arrests and weapons found in the canal.
