In 2019, the BMW X5 will be celebrating 20 years on the road, and the German carmaker has released a new version of the model.
The original Sports Activity Vehicle was once very popular in the segment, but has lost market share in the last few years.
A long history
It X5 has sold 2 million units since its introduction into the market back in 1999, getting more refined and premium over the years as is clear with the latest model.

This particular model in question is the xDrive40i producing 250kW with a top speed of 243km/h.
The new X5 will launch locally later during November.
BMW South Africa's website shows the local line-up will initially comprise of two derivatives, both powered by diesel engines.
The automaker quotes the top of the range M50d with 294kW and a 5.2 second 0-100km/h time.
While the xDrive30d has a claimed 195kW and completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.5 seconds. The new SAV (sports activity vehicle) will be available in two trim packages: xLine and M Sport package.
