- Nicholas George was sentenced to 12 years jail for culpable driving killing two
- However Mrs George claims new evidence will clear him and 'get him home'
The wife of a man who was jailed over a crash that killed two of his friends claims she has uncovered evidence that could clear her husband's name.
Nicholas George, 51, was behind the wheel of his ute when he collided with the car in front of him, sending it skidding into trees and exploding in a burst of flames.
Daniel Hay, 23, and Adam Beardsmore, 23, were inside the car in front and died instantly on the freeway, 100 kilometres south of Melbourne.
George was found guilty of two counts of culpable driving after a jury found he was responsible for their deaths in the 2014 crash, and he was jailed for 12 years.
But George's wife Nicole has investigated the crash since her husband's conviction and believes she has found evidence that proves he is innocent.

The defence had claimed that Beardsmore, who was driving the Ford, was driving at a 'reckless' speed but Judge McInerney said he was 'certain' George had been pursuing the Ford
The defence at the time of his trial claimed that Beardsmore, who was driving the Ford, was driving at a 'reckless' speed with estimates of 150km/hr.
But Judge Michael McInerney said he was 'certain' George had been pursuing the blue Ford.
'I do know that your client was behind at all times and driving at a speed that was dangerous,' he said.
Mrs George told 7 News the court had been informed that her husband's ute didn't have an engine control unit module, which is used to record crash data.
But when she searched the car herself, she claims to have found the unit.
She said she feels her husband should be afforded a new and 'fair' trial.
'We’ll get him home, he shouldn’t be in there,' she told the network.
She also employed the services of a physicist from the United States, Professor Jesse Mason, who said he believed 'the blue Ford caused the accident'.

'I feel confident that he’s going to get a fair go now and the truth will come out,' Mrs George said.
She also pointed out that Mr Beardsmore's mobile phone was burned to his hand after the crash, claiming it meant he was on the phone at the time of the collision.
However Kelly Beardsmore, mother of crash victim Adam Beardsmore, said she couldn't believe the pair were trying to drag their families through the whole ordeal again.
'I was devastated that they’re even attempting to drag us all through this over again, it just feels to us that they won’t leave them lay to rest,' she said.
