- New research has identified there are five very different morning personas
- The attributes of each has been shared so people can determine which they are
- More than half (54 per cent) admitted they are ‘not a morning person’ at all
Waking up early for work is hard but some people find it more difficult than others.
New research from O&G Crunchy Granola has found there are five different morning personas - reflecting big differences in how people function when they get up.
It also found more than half (54 per cent) of Australians admit they are ‘not a morning person’ at all - particularly millennials (71 per cent).
Here FEMAIL shares the attributes of each category and the personas that find it easiest to get up in the morning.

According to new research from O&G Crunchy Granola, there are five different morning personas
Morning Organiser
The majority of Australians fit into this category as 30 per cent of people resonate with it.
These savvy morning champions are the most organised and least stressed despite being short on time.
Morning organisers are most likely to be baby boomers with 47 per cent of the category being made up by them.
The least likely group of people to fit into this group are millennials, which make up only 12 per cent.
It’s no surprise at least some of their focus on mornings is due to steering clear of social media.

Morning Faker
Twenty per cent of Australians fit into the 'Morning Faker' category.
With more morning grumpiness, lower energy and less organisation than the rest of Australia, 42 per cent of millennials can relate to this group.
Although they may seem like they have it together this category of people aren't consistent with their morning routines.
Typically living with their parents, the effort of the Morning Faker fades as the week progresses.
Morning Fakers are 24 per cent less common on Fridays than Mondays.

The research found that more than half (54 per cent) of Australians admit they are ‘not a morning person’ at all - particularly millennials (71 per cent)
Morning Bumbler
Almost one fifth (19 per cent) are considered a 'Morning Bumbler.
This laissez faire morning riser may be more chirpy, have less stress and have more time in the morning but they are still less likely to be organised.
Perhaps distracted by admiring their friend’s puppy filters, Snapchaters are twice as likely as those who use Facebook or Instagram to be Morning Bumblers.
Morning Over Achiever
A total of 17 per cent of Australians fit into the category of organised-morning advocates.
They breeze through their mornings with low levels of stress and grumpiness despite time pressure – their success coming down to their level of organisation.
Surprisingly, parents, particularly those with pets, are more likely to be Morning Over Achievers – proving multiple mouths to feed and listen to, is ideal training for morning domination.

Morning Hater
The smallest proportion of Australians fit into this category, with 15 per cent.
Unsurprisingly, grumpy morning haters tend to be the more youthful generations of Aussies, with 90 per cent of them being millennials or Generation X, despite also proclaiming to suffer from low energy.
Perhaps related to the level of instaworthiness these generations value, over a quarter of Instagram users (26 per cent) are classified as Morning Haters.
The research also revealed the morning attitude of each state in Australia.
Queensland residents are the least grumpy in a morning, with 84 per cent ranking their grumpiness as low, compared to 23 percent of South Australia who said their grumpiness was high.
People from New South Wales are the most organised in the morning with 64 per cent saying they felt their organisation skills were high, on par with Queensland and Western Australia.
Victorians are some of the least organised in the morning, with 37 per cent saying they felt their organisation skills in a morning were low.
Fifty-five per cent of Western Australian residents claim to get up every morning on time without an alarm.
