The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) organised a massive protest on Monday outside the residence of Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar, who has been accused of sexual harassment by several women.

The IYC demanded immediate resignation of Mr. Akbar as allegations of sexual harassment against him are of a “serious nature”.

“It has been alleged that Mr. Akbar used to conduct meetings and interviews in hotel rooms and exhibited his ‘predatory’ behaviour and this has come out as part of the #MeToo campaign... and this is unacceptable,” said the IYC.

Despite serious allegations against the Minister, the BJP has maintained a steady silence on the matter.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi who speaks on everything is silent on the question of women’s dignity,” said the IYC in a statement.
