There have been many amazing catches caught in international cricket which have invited applause from cricket fans. Similarly, there are also some events of dropped catches which invite jibes from cricket fans. One such popular event is a dropped catch by Pakistani players Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik.
The match was against West Indies when Chris Gayle hit a high shot at mid-on, and both Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik ran to take the catch. Some confusion occurred between both the players and the catch was dropped, as both of them waited for each other to take the catch.
Recently, Shoaib Malik opened up more about the incident during an episode of ‘Voice of Cricket’ show and talked about the moment when Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh asked him about the dropped catch during the presentation ceremony of India vs Pakistan ICC Champions trophy 2017 final.
Malik said that he, Virat, Yuvraj and former Pak bowling coach Azhar Mahmood were all laughing while discussing the dropped catch. Virat Kohli had asked Malik what Saeed Ajmal told him after the catch was dropped, to which Malik replied, “That catch was Chris Gayle’s. I asked Ajmal if you had positioned yourself to take the catch, why did you pull out at the last moment? He told me that he waited crouched on the ground to take the catch just in case you (Shoaib Malik) drop it.” Below is the video when the above mentioned players are seen laughing.
