THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The women's wing of the Kerala Brahmana Sabha has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against the verdict allowing entry of women of all ages to the Sabarimala temple.

The petition has alleged that the affidavit filed by the CPM-led LDF government was aimed at promoting atheism in line with the government's political ideology and hence, the Constitution bench should not have taken it into consideration. It has also said that for changing temple customs the government should have amended the law.

NSS, Thazhaman Thanthri family and an organization of Sabarimala devotees have already filed review petitions against the SC order.

Brahmana Sabha state president Karimbuzha Raman said the organization filed the petition to protect the age-old customs of the hill shrine. The petitioner has claimed that it is the Thanthri family which has the right over rituals and not the devaswom. tnn
