Ever since it was announced that the CW would be rebooting Charmed, longtime fans of the original series starring Shannen Doherty Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and later Rose McGowan expressed overwhelmingly negative opinions of the upcoming series. For starters, this new iteration had no involvement from the OG Halliwell sisters, something that irked both fans and the show's originals stars. Plus, the reboot was touted as a "feminist" update, something that didn't sit well with Combs (who's been pretty vocal about her feelings on the project) and fans who took that as yet another dig at the source material. So it's safe to say, things we not off to a great start for the new Power of Three.

The new series stars Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery as grieving sisters who meet their long-lost half-sister Madeleine Mantock following their mother's mysterious death and learn that they are witches. Sunday night's anticipated premiere gave naysayers and curious fans alike an opportunity to see for themselves what this new show all about and as expected, they didn't hold back. While some expressed disappointment with some major changes, like getting rid of the Whitelighter's signature white orbs, others felt the show was off to a decent start.

Here's what Twitter had to say about the premiere:

#Charmed reboot was terrible. Actually liked the original quite a bit.

I cannot see why they completely changed the origins of the charmed ones why not continue the story from where the original one left off with their children continuing the legacy nope not for me not hear for it '🏽'🏽'🏽'🏽 #CWCharmed #Charmed #charmedreboot @cw_charmed

I feel like they should have found a way to tie in the original characters to explain the new ones. Melinda Warren is still seen as the start of them in the book of shadows but it's like Piper, page and pheobe never existed. Maybe they'll explore that in a future episode.#Charmed

Not impressed with the remake of Charmed. Kind of disappointing... nothing can beat the original ! #charmedreboot #charmed #Charmed20

.@TheCW should hang their heads in embarrassment. Top 5 worst reboots of all time. Bad. Just unbelievably bad. Pretty sure @HBO @GameOfThrones can probably sue over cloning 'The White Walker' too. @cw_charmed is a fail. Well and truly. #Charmed

Charmed Review: The Reboot Stands a Chance If It Ditches the Clunky Humor

Not everyone was up-in-arms over the reboot, however, and many expressed their excitement about this new iteration of the beloved series.

@cw_charmed So loving the new #Charmed Can't wait till next Sunday

— kendra fitzgerald (@gyrlthyme) October 15, 2018

Btw...the #Charmed reboot wasn't as bad as i thought that it was going to be. It's just not the same. I have to separate this from the original.

— Ashley McLean (@A_JamIsMe) October 15, 2018

Ok, the #CharmedReboot is good. BUT, get rid of the overly feminist agenda because the original #Charmed had a lot of girl power without shoving it down your throat.

Who else watched the Charmed Reboot? Very excited my favorite show is back w diversity (ethnic & LGBT protagonists) loved the special effects and small differences from the original. Can't wait to see more! #charmed #charmedreboot
