Trump vows 'severe punishment' if Khashoggi killedROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) In an interview with '60 Minutes,' President Trump said his administration will get to the bottom of journalist Jamal Khashoggi's disppearance and promises 'severe punishment' if he was killed by Saudi Arabia. "There's a lot at stake. And maybe especially so because this man was a reporter... There's something really terrible and disgusting about that, if that were the case. So we're going to have to see. We're going to get to the bottom of it and there will be severe punishment," said Trump in his interview with Lesley Stahl. Saudi Arabia on Sunday warned against threats to punish it over last week's disappearance of Khashoggi, as European leaders piled on pressure and two more U.S. executives scrapped plans to attend a Saudi investor conference. Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and Washington Post columnist critical of Riyadh's policies, disappeared on Oct. 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Turkey believes he was murdered and his body removed. Saudi Arabia has denied that. | |||||
