Huawei Mate 20 price looks set to be significantly higher than last year’s Mate 10 series
Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are all set to become the Chinese phone maker’s latest flagship smartphones with launch set for this week in London, United Kingdom. These will be the first smartphones to sport the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, announced by the company in August at the IFA 2018 trade show. Most major specifications, design elements, and even market-specific pricing details of the Huawei Mate 20 have been outed in leaks over the past several weeks leaving little to imagination with a little over a day to go for the launch. A new development has now emerged giving us the European pricing for the two Huawei smartphones. Let’s get into the details.
The Huawei Mate 20 will retail for EUR 799 (roughly Rs. 68,300) in European markets, while the Mate 20 Pro will be launched at EUR 1,080 (around Rs. 92,300) in Europe, reports MySmartPrice. In comparison, the predecessors Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro were launched at EUR 699 (approximately Rs. 51,200) and EUR 799 (about Rs. 59,700), respectively. If true, this brings about a significant increase in pricing from last year, as much as 35 percent in the case of the Mate 20 Pro.
The report also claims that the Huawei Mate 20 will be sold in Blue and Twilight colour options. The Mate 20 Pro will get these two, and another Black colour, the report added.
As for specifications, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is rumoured to sport a large 6.39-inch QHD+ (1440x3120 pixels) OLED display panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Other specifications expected on the flagship handset include a Kirin 980 SoC, 6GB/ 8GB RAM, a triple rear camera setup (40-megapixel primary sensor, 20-megapixel secondary sensor, and an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor), a 24-megapixel selfie camera with 3D facial recognition, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Just last week, a leak from reputed tipster Roland Quandt had claimed that the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage of the Mate 20 Pro would be priced at GBP 899 (roughly Rs. 87,200) in the UK. Pricing for other variants have not been revealed yet for the market, but we can expect all that and more to become clearer at tomorrow’s global launch event.
