Bharuch: The state government proposes to set up 225 tented accommodation for visitors coming to see the Statue of Unity dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Kevadia Colony near Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada district.

S J Haider, principal secretary, tourism department, Gujarat Government, said 150 tents will be fully air-conditioned while the remaining would not be, but all of them will be equipped with modern facilities.


“The Statue of Unity is going to be a major tourist attraction after its inauguration on October 31 and therefore the state government plans to develop the surrounding areas to provide maximum comfort to visitors. The tented accommodation will come up near reservoir no 3 and 4 of the Sardar Sarovar Dam. There would also be a restaurant, which will provide local cuisine to people,” he told reporters at Kevadia Colony on Sunday. A valley of flowers has come up near the Statue of Unity.
