HISAR: When BJP came to power in Haryana, the work of consolidation of 100 villages was still due. Now, consolidation of half was complete and if panchayats send proposal to the government regarding this, it would be completed too, said chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday.
Addressing the state-level nambardars conference at Mahabir Stadium in Hisar, Khattar announced to increase double the honorarium for nambardars from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month and provide one moble phone to each. In addition, the state government would provide all nambardars with Rs 5 lakh mediclaim cover under the Ayushmann Bharat scheme.
The oldest nambardar of the state, 95-year-old Namdhari Ram, presented turbans, doga (wooden stick) and a shawl to the chief minister, finance minister Capt Abhimanyu, transport minister Krishna Lal Panwar and local MLA Kamal Gupta. About 15,000 nambardars, who came from all the districts of the state participated in the conference.
During the interaction with the media, the chief minister said that the roadways employees have been warned against going on strike on October 17 and 18. The government was ready to accept all the demands of employees, except for not running private buses under the kilometre scheme, he added.
On opposition to indirect student bodies election by Congress and INLD youth wings, Khattar said both parties were in power all these years and could have held direct elections but did not.
