4, including 3 of a Delhi family, killed in Agra expressway crash

AGRA: Four persons, including 3 members of an east Delhi family, were killed after the MUV they were travelling in rammed into a truck on Agra-Lucknow expressway early on Monday. The accident left five people injured.

The mishap occurred near milestone 35 under the Fatehabad police jurisdiction in Agra district.


According to the police, the victims were traveling to Etawah for a ring ceremony at their native village Nayakpur.

The deceased have been identified as Echha Kumar Gupta (45), his wife Rekha Gupta (44) and daughter Preeti Gupta (22), all resident of Gali 3, Ganga Vihar in East Delhi. The family owned a sweet shop in the national capital. The fourth victim has been identified as Vipin Gupta alias Mishu (25), son of Govind Gupta.

The injured persons have been identified as Govind Gupta, Ankit Gupta, Mohini Gupta, Nandu Gupta and Shyamsavita, who were taken to government hospital in Agra.

Speaking to TOI, Dugresh Kumar Sengar, the acting in-charge of Fatehabad said, “The victims had left Delhi on Monday at around 12am and were heading for ring ceremony of Govind Gupta’s elder son Ishu Gupta. Govind’s relative, Echha Kumar Gupta was driving the car and he probably fell asleep on steering wheels and the car rammed into rear of an unidentified truck.”

“The accident was so horrendous, that Preeti and her mother Rekha were thrown out of the car, while Echha Gupta’s blood-soaked body was trapped in the vehicle. He was extracted after cutting down the mangled parts of the MUV,” added SHO.

On Sunday, an L&T project manager Sushil Sharma (28) and his seven-year-old daughter Princesses were killed while his wife Priyanka was critically injured at Yamuna Expressway when their car rammed into the divider after tyre burst.
