Construction worker held for sexually abusing minor girl in TN

TRICHY: Police have arrested a 26-year-old construction worker in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu for sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl.
Thenkoban, a resident of Vilavadi Moolai in K Karai in Tiruvarur, allegedly sexually abused the daughter of a construction worker, who is a Class III student, on Saturday.
The girl’s father heard her cries from the terrace of his house when he returned home around 6pm on Saturday. He went to the terrace and saw his daughter being sexually assaulted by Thenkovan.
When the father tried to nab him, Thenkovan fled the scene. The father filed a complaint with the Tiruvarur all-woman police who acted swiftly and arrested Thenkovan. They registered a case against the accused under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The girl was admitted to Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvarur for treatment. Further investigations were on.
Thenkovan was remanded in judicial custody.
