Gang stealing valuables from vehicles parked at garba venues nabbed

Vadodara: Gotri police arrested four members of a gang that stole valuables from vehicles parked at various garba venues since the beginning of Navratri.
Police recovered valuables worth Rs five lakh from them. During patrolling on Sunday night, police found three persons in a car and one on a bike moving around suspiciously near Sir Sayajirao Nagargruh in Akota. They intercepted the vehicles and checked them thoroughly. Cops found 15 wallets and purses, six wristwatches and seven mobile phones from them.
They four identified themselves Salman Chauhan, a resident of Tandalja, Sultan Deewan, resident of Narmada district, Farooq Sheikh and Arbaaz Daima, both residents of Bharuch.
The accused admitted to stealing the valuables from different garba venues in the city. “They stole three mobile phones and two purses from BITA Garba ground’s parking in Akota and two wallets from two-wheelers parked in Vadodara Navratri Festival’s parking lot,” police said.
They also revealed that they stole valuables from 11 two-wheelers parked at Kalanagri Garba Mahotsav at Navlakhi Ground apart from breaking window glass of a car for stealing a mobile phone and wallet.
They broke window glasses of a car and stole valuables from a two-wheeler from the parking of United Way Garba apart from stealing a wallet and a mobile phone from a two-wheeler parked in a lane near Inorbit Mall.
Salman and Mohsin had drugged a two-wheeler driver near Dumad Chowkdi some months ago and stole his motorbike. Salman has also stolen a mobile phone and gold ornaments from a four-wheeler at Shoolpaneshwar Temple in Narmada district.
The police said that is yet to recover all the stolen items from the gang that may have committed several crimes in other districts.
