LUCKNOW: A long power cut on Sunday morning affected residents of Hazratganj, Shahnajaf Road, Jopling Road, Dalibagh, Lalbagh, Aminabad, Kaiserbagh, Husainganj, Burlington and adjoining areas. People said their morning routine and holiday plans were ruined because of the power cut that lasted for almost five hours.

Power was disrupted around 5.30am and restored after 10am without notification.

"Lesa could have informed us earlier about the disruption. Due to power outage, everything got delayed and we had to give up our plan of going for a movie," said Jitesh Kesarwani, a resident of Husainganj.

"I was woken up by the sound of fluctuation from a stabilizer around 5am. Due to unpredictable voltage, we had to immediately unplug all electronic equipment. After continuous fluctuation, supply was disrupted around 5.40am and restored around 10.15am," said Kamini Agarwal, a resident of Kaiserbagh. "I called the Lesa helpline number five times to lodge a complaint but no one answered," said Arun Kumar, a resident of Hazratganj.

"The four-hour power cut was disappointing. We had organised a party at our residence but the power disruption spoiled everything. I tried to lodge a complaint but got no response from Lesa helpline," said Ahsan Faraz, a resident of Jopling Road.

According to Lesa executive engineer Husainganj AK Kaushal, the transmission of 132-KVA Martinpurva was scheduled to upgrade with a 63-MVA additional transformer. Hence, power supply was stopped for a few hours.
