Doc arrested for abetting nurse’s suicide
tnn | Oct 16, 2018, 04:00 ISTPalanpur: Mehsana police on Monday arrested a senior doctor of the civil hospital in connection with the suicide of a 26-year-old nurse.
Dr Girish Kandoi, head of antiretroviral therapy (ART) centre, was arrested from his residence in Shiva Society after the deceased nurse Neelam Leuva’s father had named him in his complaint. Leuva’s father had alleged that Dr Kandoi used to often mentally harass his daug-hter to force her to resign.
Deputy superintendent of police (SC/ST) cell, Mehsana, J R Vaghela said, “We are collecting more evidences, including call detail records, CCTV footage and staffers statements.”
On Sunday, Neelam, who was a nurse in the ART department on a contract basis, had committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan of her house. She was working in the civil hospital for the past four years.
