The government has invited the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of municipal employees, who have been on a State-wide strike for the last 11 days, for negotiations on October 15, according to a press release by leader K. Umamaheswara Rao.
He stated that the government unleashed a false propaganda that G.O. MS No. 279 was good for them when, in fact, work rationalisation and outsourcing of work packages threatened to render thousands of workers jobless.
The government has so far not scrapped that G.O. and it kept various other issues pending for more than three years.
As the workers refused to end their strike unless their demands are conceded, the government realised the gravity of the situation and invited the JAC for talks at 11 a.m. on Monday.
However, it has been decided to call off the strike only if the deliberations yield a positive result.
