CHANDIGARH: Family members of Abhishek Shukla, who was murdered exactly one year ago, have been running from pillar to post to get the accused men arrested. Even after a year, all they have got are the assurances from the SSP, UT to SHO of the area. Abhishek was the only son of his parents.

While talking to TOI, Abhishek’s father Vikram Shukla, said police have even failed to get Central Forensic Science Laboratory report of Abhishek’s two mobile phones till date. Vikram said he had met Z P Khan, the SHO of Industrial Area, Phase-I police station on several occasions and every time he came up with new justification behind the delay in cracking the case and arresting the accused. Vikram also said that he had met Nilambari Vijay Jagdale, SSP, UT, three to four times, but nothing, even remotely substantial, has been achieved in the case.

Abhishek was murdered on the day when their family was summoned from the local court to record their statements in the court regarding a theft case, Vikram said. Family received a court summon in the morning and Abhishek was murdered by night on the very day. Abhishek was a witness in the theft case in which Golu, a resident of the Hallomajra was arrested for theft by Sector 31 police.

Family members said they have lost faith in the UT police and the case should now be handed over to CBI. They also raised their demand for the formation of a special investigation team to crack the case.
