Minor among four held for robbery at Ramanathapuram

Coimbatore: The city police arrested four youths, including a Class XII student and college, on Sunday for snatching gold bracelet, gold chain, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from a college student at Ramanathapuram on October 9.

Police said S Srinath, 21, of Puliyakulam, a final year BE (mechanical) in a private college, had planned to sell his two mobile phones and approached his friend A Anshid, 21, of Kuniyamuthur. Anshid took Srinath to place at Ramanathapuram to sell his mobile phones on October 9.


Meanwhile, three youths came there and assaulted Srinath and Anshid and snatched a mobile phone, a gold chain, gold bracelet and a motorcycle from Srinath. The youths assaulted Anshid also.


Later, Srinath lodged a complaint with Ramanathapuram (crime) police who registered a case under sections 392 and 397 of the Indian Penal Code and conducted inquiry with Anshid.


Preliminary inquiry revealed that Anshid brought his three friends Abijith, Shibu and a Class XII student to Coimbatore and asked them to snatch the gold and motorcycle from Srinath. Based on his instructions, they assaulted Srinath and Anshid and snatched the gold ornaments and escaped. Police arrested Anshid and the 17-year-old minor boy who hailed from Palakkad on Sunday. Abijith and Shibu were detained on Sunday night. Further investigation is on.
