Congress working president A. Revanth Reddy has sought an inquiry into the reported claims of Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had offered him ₹ 10 crore to contest from L.B.Nagar constituency.
Mr. Revanth Reddy met Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar and submitted a representation seeking action against Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly offering money to Mr. Narsimha Reddy. The authorities should record the statement of the Home Minister immediately for what he claimed at a press conference, he said. He also said the election authorities should also seek explanation from Mr. Rao on the cash he is said to have promised to arrange for Mr. Narsimha Reddy.
Mr. Narsimha Reddy apparently claimed at a press conference in Musheerabad that Mr. Rao offered him ₹ 10 crore to contest from LB. Nagar instead of his constituency Musheerabad. According to reports in a section of media, Mr. Narsimha Reddy said KCR did not give him appointment despite requests to discuss the Musheerabad ticket issue which he is seeking for his son-in-law.
Revanth seeks security
Mr. Revanth Reddy also sought security from Central agencies alleging that recently TRS leaders, including Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Balka Suman, had threatened to eliminate him for criticising Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao. He requested for 4+4 security and escort.
He reminded that Mr. Rao on the floor of the Assembly, openly proclaimed that he will be finished by operation ‘Blue Star’ and as a part of it he was also implicated in a false case. Mr. Reddy said he had also criticised present DGP M. Mahender Reddy, then police commissioner of Hyderabad, for attending the orientation programme conducted for the TRS elected members in the year 2015. Consequently, the security was reduced to 2+2 and this was nothing but an effort to eliminate him, he claimed.
He said even the Union Home Ministry had expressed the need for more security for him and filed a response in the Court on the same lines based on a writ petition filed by him. However, the State government did not take any action.
