NEW DELHI: Two youths have been arrested for cheating several people by offering them a life insurance scheme and extraordinary returns. The men, Ankit Kumar and Rahul Bansal, were caught with Rs 8 lakh that they had duped from their victims. Police said that they mainly targeted the elderly.

Additional CP (crime) Ajit K Singla said that they had received a complaint from a man staying in Punjab who mentioned that he had got a call from the customer relation department of a prominent insurance company offering huge returns on his investments and asked him to transfer Rs 3 lakh to an account. “He kept getting calls and had eventually transferred Rs 23 lakh into the account, but didn’t get any returns,” said Singla.
