South Africa pocketed the T20I series against Zimbabwe with a six-wicket win in the second game of the three-match series.
South African pacers Dane Paterson and Robbie Frylinck, who picked up two wickets each, helped keep Zimbabwe to 132/7. The proteas chased down the target with 26 balls to spare.
Paterson, Frylinck and Tabraiz Shamsi kept Zimbabwe on tight leash at they kept losing wickets after Hamilton Masakadza and Solomon Mire had provided a good start.
The openers were removed by Paterson and Frylinck and with Zimbabwe struggling at 35 for 3 in the seventh over, the experience of Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams came to fore to give the visitors some hope.
Taylor and Williams added 29 steady runs before the former captain was dismissed by Shamsi. With Taylor gone, Williams increased the pace hitting three sixes off Shamsi’s third over. Williams scored 41 before Paterson returned to claim his wicket.
Zimbabwe could manage just 31 more in the final four overs.
South Africa lost Rassie van der Dussen early but Quinton de Kock kept scoring at brisk pace. De Kock scored 26 off 23 with three fours and one six. Zimbabwe got the wicket of Faf du Plessis in the next over.
However, JP Duminy and Heinrich Klaasen added 44 off 29 balls to take South Africa close. Duminy remained unbeaten on 33 with three fours and a six as South Africa reached the target in the 16th over.
