Rajkot: Five persons have been booked for allegedly gang rape of a married woman in Nakhatrana town of Kutch district.

The woman, who is in her early 40s, was raped on October 10, but police registered an FIR late on October 12. The main accused Mohan Ahir was known to the woman and her family, police sources said. Ahir was arrested on Saturday. On October 10 evening, Ahir took the woman in his car saying that they would visit Mata Na Madh and she agreed to go with him. However, Aahir took her to a commercial complex on Kotda-Jagodar Road and made her sit in an office. Ahir then called his four friends and they locked the office from inside and took turns to rape the woman.

It is learnt that few years ago, the woman had purchased a scooter from Ahir. The two-wheeler was registered in the name of the accused’s wife. PSI L P Bodana, currently in-charge of the Nakhatrana police station said, “We are investigating the relationship between accused and the rape survivor as it is not the case of kidnapping.”
