The CBI officers on Friday questioned the Villupuram Superintendent of Police S Jayakumar for the second consecutive day in connection with the Rs 40 crore gutkha scam.

He was grilled for nearly nine hours on Friday by the investigators from 10.30 am. Jayakumar was deputy commissioner of police, Chennai city crime branch when the scam allegedly happened.
CBI had decided to question Jayakumar after former Chennai city police commissioner S George named Jayakumar in a press conference. George alleged that former CCB DC S Jayakumar, who worked under him, had not briefed him about his findings regarding the illegal trade of gutkha at that time.
CBI in the first week of September this year had raided the residence of state DGP TK Rajendran and Health Minister C Vijay Baskar and besides the house of George.
