India Chief Sunil Mahale leaves Nutanix

Sunil Mahale to leave enterprise cloud company and head APJ operations for an enterprise analytics and AI startup.

Nutanix’s Sunil Mahale has put in his papers. Sunil was vice president and Managing Director for Nutanix India since 2015.  Nutanix has confirmed the exit of Sunil Mahale.

The official statement from Nutanix regarding Sunil’s departure exclusively to IDG India says, “We can confirm that Nutanix’s VP of Sales, India, Sunil Mahale, has resigned his role and will leave at the end of October to take up a new regional opportunity with an enterprise analytics start up. "

Sunil joined Nutanix as India chief in December 2015.

“We would like to thank Sunil for his commitment, his builder mindset, and for his role in creating the India sales operations from scratch. We wish him well in his new venture,” added the statement.

In his prior role to Nutanix, he was vice president, APAC Global Markets at Hitachi Data Systems (now Hitachi Vantara). 

Sunil after his exit from Nutanix is reported to lead an APJ role in the next company. 

Sunil for nearly three years as India chief has been instrumental to drive Nutanix India business as the company’s first employee.

Sunil’s departure comes at a time of significant growth for Nutanix in India. 

Several months ago, we augmented our India leadership with Sankalp Saxena as SVP and managing director of Operations, tasked with the global delivery of products, operations and support as per the company statement. 

Sunil had recently started reporting into Neville Vincent, who leads India, ANZ and ASEAN, as part of our efforts to take our business in India to the next level. This new structure and leadership for India is focused on contributing to the stated goal of USD 3 billion in billings for 2021 that we have committed to Wall Street, and helping to grow and scale India in the process.” said Nutanix’s official statement to IDG India.

In a career spanning eighteen years in the technology industry, Sunil has also worked with EMC for five years and earlier with NetApp from 2000 to 2005. 

Sunil Mahale is a computer engineering graduate from Pune institute of Computer Technology.
