The accident that actor Prateik Babbar was involved in on Wednesday in North Goa was a “simple mishap” his lawyer claimed on Friday.

Vibhav Amonkar, the lawyer, in a statement, said, “It was a simple mishap. There were no injuries caused to anyone. All the reports alleging rash and negligent driving as well as assault are absolutely untrue and solely aimed at maligning my client’s reputation. All the medical tests conducted on my client were negative thereby demolishing all the unfounded allegations.”

Mr. Amonkar said that unscrupulous elements were merely trying to twist the issue to gain mileage as his client’s father is Congress leader Raj Babbar.

Case closed

The statement comes a day after the police closed the case involving the actor and a local resident. The actor and the victim reportedly arrived at a mutual settlement. Mr. Amonkar claimed that Mr. Babbar had been extremely co-operative with the police.

On Wednesday, Mr. Babbar was booked under Section 184 (dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 after his car hit a two-wheeler rider and his sister.

His counsel said that the vehicle involved in the accident had been released along with all documents by the police at Porvorim police station in North Goa.
