Farmer booked for burning stubble in Hisar

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana State Pollution Control Board has got a case registered against one person and recovered amount of Rs 45,000 as fine from 12 farmers for burning crop residue in Hisar district.

A board official said on Friday that last year 122 cases of burning crop residue were registered during paddy season. “Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC) in Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) campus at Hisar has been monitoring the entire state through satellite. If any incident of crop residue burning takes places, it would immediately come to our notice through satellite and a team of pollution control board would get a case registered against the guilty after carrying out physical verification of the area,” he added.


The official said the state agriculture and farmer welfare department had been providing different agricultural implements for crop residue management at subsidy of 50%-80%. He added that burning of crop residue not only causeed pollution, but also affect the animals, birds and human beings.


“For crop residue management, farmers can contact the agriculture development officer of their area. Apart from this, the state government has also been organising awareness camps on crop residue management,” he said.
