Gujarati businessman rushed him to hospital
Yagnesh Bharat Mehta | tnn | Oct 14, 2018, 04:00 ISTSurat: Gujarati residents were the first ones to rush Amarjeet Singh to hospital when they found him lying injured on a road near Bhagwan Mahavir College on Friday night.
A 21-year-old businessman took the initiative to shift him to the hospital when 108 ambulance didn’t reach the spot immediately, disproving the theory of schisms among different communities in the city.
Family members of Amarjeet Singh had earlier alleged that he was a victim of hate crime.
Kamal Patel was returning home on VIP Road with his friends on a scooter when he spotted Amarjeet Singh lying on road. “It was late and looked like an accident. The man was lying in a pool of blood,” said Patel, who recently completed his diploma engineering and was now helping his father in textile business.
“There were a few people there and someone had called 108 ambulance. The ambulance was yet to come despite having been informed. I and my friends decided to help the injured man. A man who was passing-by in a car offered help and we shifted the victim to a hospital. However, he was declared brought dead,” said Patel. He noticed that the victim’s motorcycle was lying some 10 feet away from him.
He along with his friends also collected some belongings of the deceased. “We were a little late and could not save his life. He died of heavy blood loss,” said Patel.
Family members of Amarjeet Singh, father of two children, were in deep shock on learning about his death. They claimed that Amarjeet Singh was murdered by local people as a part of hate attack on migrants in the state after rape of a 14-year-old girl allegedly by a migrant in Sabarkantha in September.
