Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for Cyclone Titli victims’ kin, says N Chandrababu Naidu

PALASA (SRIKAKULAM): Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said he would modernise Palasa town which bore the brunt of cyclone Titli and will stay in Palasa till Sunday to oversee the restoration works.
The CM visited affected areas and asked Srikakulam district collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy to focus on removal of uprooted trees and electricity poles, apart from restoring power supply and telecoms networks.
CM Naidu also announced an ex gratia of ?5 lakh each for families of the eight people who died in the cyclone. The affected people would be supplied rice and other basic food items like dal, oil, onions, potatoes etc, he added.
Naidu also visited Akkupali village in Vajrapukotturu mandal, where the cyclone had made landfall early on Thursday. He assured that the government would financially support those affected by the cyclone.
Naidu said 100 IAS officers would be brought to Srikakulam to supervise and speed up restoration works.
He further said that he would also make night rounds in some areas along with local MLAs during his stay in Palasa. The fire service department has been entrusted the task of supplying drinking water in the affected areas.
