Supreme Court fixes six months to decide Rasraj case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday revised its Wednesday order to direct the Mumbai trial judge to decide the demolition case of Ville Parle’s Rasraj Restaurant to decide it within six months as an outer limit.  The Bench of Justices Abhay Manohar Sapre and Ms Indu Malhotra had on Wednesday ordered expeditious disposal, but amended it to fix the outer limit on a mention by counsel of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.

Other parts of the order on the restaurant’s appeal like status quo on demolition and the trial court going by the evidence adduced by the parties remain unchanged. The restaurant had come in appeal against the Bombay High Court on September 28 allowing demolition of the unauthorised ground plus first floor instead of a temporary shed as claimed.
