A Friday allegedly committed suicide in Gujarat's district, over 350 kilometres from here, after reportedly suffering crop loss and facing rising debts, police said.

Viram Odedara (54) hung himself at his residence in Kutiyana town, and his son has told police that the deceased had lost his crops for the season and was stressed that he could not repay loans taken from a and relatives, said sub Y B Patel of station.

According to figures released by government, the state is staring at water scarcity since it had received only 76.72 per cent of average rainfall this monsoon.
