CSA pays tribute to Sonwabile Bidla

2018-10-12 18:39

Cape Town - Cricket South Africa (CSA) has heard with sadness of the passing of Sonwabile Bidla, President of Blind Cricket South Africa, on October 5.

He was 33.

In adding to his work as an administrator, he was also a fine player who represented South Africa in three Blind Cricket World Cups in 2012, 2014 and 2017 and was honoured by CSA as Blind Cricketer of the Year in 2016.

"His passing is a sad loss to the cause of Blind Cricket and leaves a void that will not be filled easily," commented CSA Chief Executive Thabang Moroe.

"He was a tireless worker who lived his cricket dreams in spite of the handicap he had to overcome. On behalf of the CSA Family I extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends and cricket colleagues."
