Man arrested for molesting 9-yr-old girl in Pandesara
tnn | Oct 13, 2018, 04:00 ISTSurat: A case of molestation was registered against a 35-year-old textile worker for molesting a nine-year-old girl in Pandesara area of the city on Friday.
The case was registered at Pandesara police station. The accused has been booked under IPC sections and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Accused Simachand Mruduli knew the parents of the girl. He came to the area on a bicycle and spoke to girl’s father and left.
He went where two sisters aged nine and seven were playing. He told the girls he wants to take them on a cycle ride. He made one of the girls sit on his cycle while the other kept running along.
When the accused was taking the girl on his cycle and passing by Pandesara fire station, a man from the area saw them and shouted at him. Hearing his shout, the girl jumped from the cycle and ran away.
The accused was taken to Pandesara police station by the people.
A police officer said, “We have registered a complaint of molestation under IPC section 354(A) after the girl’s father registered a complaint against the accused. We have recorded the statements of the girl, her father and some eyewitnesses. The accused has been arrested.”
