New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the Government has been focusing to ensure that all Indians have access to the basic needs of human beings and that it has taken serious measures to improve the quality of life of the poor in the last four years.
Addressing the Silver Jubilee foundation day of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the PM said the Government has worked to eliminate problems faced by women while working in night shifts and provide them adequate security.
Stressing that human rights should not be merely a slogan, but also a part of our ethos, the PM said, ’’in the last four years or so, a lot of serious efforts have been made to improve the quality of life of the poor.’’
He said that the Government’s focus has been to ensure that all Indians have access to the basic needs of human beings.‘’It is a huge achievement that in the past 4 and half years serious efforts have been made to raise the dignity of the poor, deprived, exploited and oppressed person of society,’’the PM said.
In this context, he mentioned the achievements of schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and Saubhagya Yojana; and the transformation that has been brought about in the lives of the people as a result of these schemes.
He also hailed the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, saying 50,000 people have benefited from it within two and a half weeks of its launch..
‘’Today, I can say with pride that due to the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign, there has been a huge increase in the number of daughters in many states including Haryana and Rajasthan,’’ the PM said.
He said the triple talaq legislation is a part of the effort to provide justice to the oppressed.”I am confident that this key legislation will be accorded approval by Parliament soon,” he said.
The PM said his government has worked to eliminate problems faced by women while working in night shifts and provide them adequate security.
