Nagpur: Two flights of GoAir were diverted to emergency landings in the city on Friday due to medical situations.
Airport terminal official Rachit Somayya told TOI that the first flight, a Lucknow-Mumbai flight, had to land at 2.51pm as a passenger was not feeling well. He was declared ‘brought dead’ at the Care Hospital kiosk at the airport. He is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest mid-air.
Ravi Manddiyar, chief hospital administrator of Care, told TOI that the elderly patient’s body was sent to Government Medical College and Hospital after he was declared dead by Dr Saurabh Sahare at the airport. The patient’s name was Ramlal Sharma. His body was later shifted to Lucknow by road with the help of Care Hospital, along with a relative travelling on the plane.
The second patient was travelling in Ranchi-Mumbai flight of GoAir. The flight landed at 6.02pm. He had complained of chest pain and was brought to Care Hospital. However, the patient, Ramesh Kedia, refused to get admitted or get any check-up done after reaching Care Hospital. “Kedia and his family later left by a taxi,” said Manddiyar.
