Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed the bail application of Indrani Mukerjea on Wednesday in the Sheena Bora murder case, claiming she had filed the plea with an ‘ulterior motive’.Earlier this month, Mukerjea had sought bail on medical grounds, citing neurological implications.
The central agency while opposing her plea claimed, were she to be granted bail on medical grounds, as it appears prima facie there was no one to look after her, as her daughter Vidhi Mukerjea is in the United Kingdom and recently, Indrani and Peter Mukerjea had filed for divorce before a family court. The agency further claimed, although her plea has been rejected twice on similar grounds, she has applied for the third time, to delay the trial. Indrani Mukerjea, a former media executive, was arrested in 2015 as the main accused in her daughter Sheena’s murder. – Staff Reporter
