‘CM’s official residence has become a symbol of feudalism’

Pragathi Bhavan, the official residence of the present Chief Minister, would be converted into a public hospital if the Congress comes to power and the Nizam Sugar Factory (NSF) would be revived within 100 days, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

Addressing a meeting where TRS MLC C. Bhupati Reddy of Nizamabad district joined the Congress party with his supporters, he said Pragathi Bhavan, which was constructed at a cost of ₹ 500 crore on 9 acres of land and 1 lakh sft is a symbol of dictatorial and aristocratic rule of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family. It needs to be turned into a public hospital to announce the return of people’s rule and restoration of democracy in Telangana State, he said.

He said the TRS government made no efforts to revive the NSF during the last four-and-a-half years and Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao and Nizamabad MP Kavita owe an apology to the people. However, Congress would revive it in 100 days after coming to power.

Pending projects

He also assured that all the pending irrigation projects of Nizamabad Rural would be completed on a war footing.

Mr. Reddy said more than 4,500 farmers committed suicide in Telangana State after KCR came to power. However, Mr. Rao neither expressed condolences or concern over those suicides nor deputed any minister to console and assure the families. Now he has introduced Rythu Bandhu scheme only to hoodwink the farmers.

On the contrary, Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited such families of farmers in Adilabad district while conducting a 15-kilometre long padayatra to instil confidence and hope among financially shattered farming community.

The meeting was also addressed by MLC Bhupati Reddy, Nizamabad DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan, former minister Sudarshan Reddy and other leaders from Nizamabad.
