A 11th standard student attempted suicide by consuming rat poison in the school allegedly after a teacher scolded him on Friday in Gudiyatham.

According to the police, Rajesh, a standard student in a government school, attempted suicide after his teacher scolded him.

Other students alerted the teacher and he was taken to the hospital.

The police are investigating.
